Day 6 - Alpamayo North Base Camp to Laguna Safuna Baja

That night was very cold and the tent was heavily frosted the next morning. The water I used to wash the dishes froze while I was washing. But after this cold start the day became one of the few fine days of the trek. We climbed over a high pass called Gara Gara (4830m), then down a valley and over another pass called Mesapata (4460m). This brought us into the upper Tayapampa valley and we found a camp site in undulating country near Lake Safuna Baja.

		First, we crossed the Alpamayo river on this bridge before climbing the Gara Gara pass.
		Then we climbed up the Gara Gara pass, and were able to look back into the high valley that we had explored on the previous day. The high valley is above and to the right of the milky blue lake.
