Day 10 - Climb out of Pomabamba Valley

We left Pomabamba in the morning with heavy packs, stocked now with 5 days food for the remainder of our trek. Our aim was to find the trail to Ruinas Yaino, but because the valley is criss-crossed with numerous trails among the pastures and villages throughout the valley, we soon drifted astray of our intended route. This wasn't a problem as whereever we walked there were friendly farming people who waved to us as we walked past. Eventually we climbed above the rural zone and found a camp site at the head of a remote valley.

		It was a long climb out of the Pomabamba valley with our heavy packs, but it was fascinating walking through delightful Peruvian farming communities.
		Eventually we climbed above the rural zone and made towards tge grassy ridgetops to the south of Pomabamba.
		At last we gained the crest of the ridge and ahead lay a scene of high peaks and glaciers, and ever present clouds.
		The mountains are always shrouded in cloud.
