Day 6 - Carhuacocha to Huayhuash via Siula Punta

26 Jun 2007

Today we left Carhuacocha and headed south to the campsite called Huayhuash (4345m). Our route took us back past the three beautiful lakes that we had visited on the previous day. We then climbed over Siula Punta (4834m), the highest point we had reached so far. From here it was gentle walking in beautiful weather and scenery through open grassland to our camp site at Huayhuash.

		We woke to a perfect morning at Laguna Carhuacocha, this was the first day that the skies remained clear for the entire day.
		In these clear skies we enjoyed the reflections in the tranquil Laguna Siula.

		After climbing over Siula Punta (4834m) we enjoyed walking through this gentle country with its numerous tarns. Glaciers and peaks of the Cordillera Huayhuash are the ubiquitous backdrop.
