On day seven
It was canyoning heaven
With three great canyons more.
Where coachwoods tower high
Straining to reach the sky
We were held transfixed in awe.
Day 7 was perhaps the highlight in terms of the number of canyons done and the breathtaking beauty of their deep vaults. One of the most striking features of today's canyons were the tall coachwood trees rooted to the canyon floor and crowning above the high canyon walls. The first canyon had some short abseils and was very narrow. Some sections were very dark and full of spiders. Our next canyon was full of inky black water with lots of bushfire detritus in it. The final canyon of the entire trip was long, deep and very beautiful. All three canyons are among the most beautiful in this entire region of the Wollemi.
