Day 3 - 29 Dec 2008

On day three

After a cup of tea

We descended a canyon from the top.

There was a great storm

Hughie was in good form

Luckily after lunch it did stop.

On Day 3 we entered a canyon that we had found last year but only from the bottom. This time we were suitably poised to descend the canyon from the top. This was a worthwhile enterprise because by doing so we found new canyon that we had previously not seen or knew existed. Later in the day as we progressed downstream and southeast, a huge thunderstorm broke just as we were finishing our lunch. Fortunately it cleared by the time we climbed out a steep route to a fire trail that we would use to gain access to our next system of canyons.

The upper section of canyon begins.

Here we are in the new section of canyon that we never knew existed. We called this canyon "Damper Canyon".

"Damper Canyon".
