Day 5 - 31 Dec 2008

On day five

Which we managed to survive

Two more great canyons were done.

One was long

But the belays were strong

And the other was second to none.

On Day 5 we walked upstream into another system of canyons and at the junction of two creeks dropped packs and headed on a side trip to do one long and serious canyon. This took several hours and it was late by the time we got back to our packs for lunch. But we still had time left in the afternoon to explore the other branch of the creek, in which a beautiful section of canyon was found, and there were also some minor side creeks of this tributary that also contained excellent canyon formation.
