Day 9 - 3 Jan 2008

Today was our last day. By now our food supplies were running low, we were grimy and dirty from 8 days of summer in the Wollemi, and the blowfiles had not given up their ongoing campaign of harassment. It was time to return to Sydney for a much needed hot shower.

For the previous several days our diet had been supplemented with damper that we made on the camp fire. Today we made our last dampers and then headed back to the car and began the long drive back to Sydney. The trip concluded with a quick refreshing drink at the Capertee pub.

The last morning. At our campsite beside a gentle stream we have breakfast and make dampers for our lunch.

This is damper making in progress. This damper, made with flour, water and milk powder, is being baked in the billy placed close to the fire.

The finished product. Here are our two dampers, which would be consumed at lunch time with our remaining spreads, which by now were running very low.

As we exit the Wollemi wilderness we pass through some farm land.
