Views on Monte Frances summit day
Our attempts on Monte Bove and Monte Frances were made by heading northwards from our base camp, following the valley upstream past a glacial lake. Above the glacial lake were a series of rock climbs, mostly easy but with one difficult move. The rock climbing lead us to a glacier, which we climbed to an altitude of about 1100m, where our high camp was established. We spent two nights at this high camp and made attempts on Monte Bove (2400m) and Monte Frances (2150m). Our attempt on Monte Bove was repulsed due to poor visibility, but we were successful in reaching the summit of Monte Frances on 21 Jan 2013.
