Day 1 - Climb to Huascarán base camp
23 Jul 2007
Today we travelled by minibus from Huaraz to the village of Musho (3050m) that lies at the base of Huascarán. This small village is completely dominated by the mountain. Here our supplies and equipment were loaded onto donkeys who would carry everything as far as base camp. They would then return to Musho while we remained on the mountain.
After registering with the local authorities we began climbing through eucalypt forest on a wide track up to base camp, which we reached by mid afternoon.
