Day 3 - Bonar Clacier

24 Feb 2007

Day 3 was a short day, because all we had to do was cross the Bonar Glacier and climb to Colin Todd Hut. The weather was reasonable, and that day, many climbers were on Mt Aspiring. Between Bevan Col and Colin Todd Hut, the glacier is level, with very few crevasses. Thus crossing the glacier was an easy walk. Nevertheless, we were roped up to guard against hidden crevasses and for security for the climb up to the hut. We arrived at the hut by lunch time, so the afternoon was free for us to prepare for our summit bid.

Chris and Greg descend to the Bonar Glacier. Bevan Col, where we had camped the night before, is in the background.

After crossing the glacier, there is a short climb up to Colin Todd Hut.
