MountainSphere Adventures | Navigation Weekend 12-13 June 2021
This would probably take the record as the coldest 2 day navigation weekend ever held, and certainly the first where patches of snow were still lying around on the highest ground on the first morning of the walk. The cold weather meant breaking up the sit down teaching sessions into briefer sessions held throughout the day and the final one being beside a warm campfire at camp! The weather was superb otherwise, with clear cold air and golden lighting at sunset and sunrise. Also superb was the group of intrepid navigators, all of whom embraced the cold weather with enthusiasm and there was never any wavering or doubt in the days leading up to the trip. All came prepared and so we all stayed warm with warm gear and warm campfires. We unexpectedly had the place to ourselves, and the group made the most of the many opportunities to learn different aspects of navigation. Another great navigation weekend enjoyed by all!
