Here are some photos from a week of canyoning in the Wollemi Wilderness for 5 days after Christmas 2010. This year the remote canyons of the Wollemi showed evidence of recent floods and water levels were very high. Flood debris had filled some of the canyons and river gorges had been scoured clean by recent torrents of water. The recent rains also helped the growth of the natural scrub, and walking in and out of this remote area was rendered difficult due to long distances of walking through dense scrub. The reward for this was to visit remote and unspoiled canyons. Here are just a few photos.

Day 1 - 26 Dec 2010

A tortoise wandering along the creek.

Jo picks up the tortoise.

A huge caterpillar.

Day 2 - 27 Dec 2010

On Day 2 we did a canyon which had lots of abseils and waterfalls.
