Here are some photos from a week of canyoning in the Wollemi Wilderness in the week after Christmas 2009. It was a week of relatively cool and rainy weather for this time of year. This meant the canyons were flowing well with many small waterfalls. We also enjoyed the shelter of sandstone overhangs for keeping dry during the evenings, instead of camping in the open. On the last 3 nights the rain eased and camping in the open was possible.

It was a great week of canyoning with some new and some old canyons being explored. Here are just a few photos.

Due to the rainy weather, small waterfalls trickled down in places that are normally dry.

We found this huge camp cave which provided shelter from the rain for 2 nights. This was the base from which we did 2 canyons.

One of the canyons was full of side waterfalls.

A beautiful scene of multiple waterfalls in a canyon.

Plenty of water was coming through the canyon due to recent rain.

On the 4th night the weather had improved and we could camp out with a beautiful view from this terrace overlooking the wilderness.
The 6th day of the trip was more of a bushwalk than a canyoning trip and we climbed a prominent point with commanding views.
