On the weekend of 30-31 July 2016 I took a small group from SUBW to the Red Rocks near Newnes in the Wolgan Valley. This was a perfect winter weekend with clear blue skies, no wind, and recent rain making the bush lush with water up high. Great company, great views and great camp fires.

Date Comments
Fri 29 Jul 2016 In the evening we drove to Newnes and established a camp. Cold night with frost.
Sat 30 Jul 2016 Climbed out of the Wolgan valley and followed a ridge of delicate rock formations to reach the foot of Mt Dawson where we had lunch. Climbed Mt Dawson after lunch for spectacular views. Continued north along the Red Rocks and camped near Ross' Knob.
Sun 31 Jul 2016 Continued along the Red Rocks as far as The Room, then after a rest on The Balcony we retraced our steps a short distance before heading down Little Capertee Creek to return to Newnes.

Here are some photos from the trip.
