Dense forest at Dampier Trig, Deua National Park

Introduction

Deua National Park, located between Canberra and Cooma in southern New South Wales, is a wild mountainous area in which may be found magnificent eucalypt forest, beautiful creeks and streams, and mountains rising to 1300m.

In Easter 2007 I led a 4 day walk in this spectacular area. The walk comprised a group of seven from Sydney University Bushwalkers (SUBW). Our route was a 4 day circuit, starting and ending at Pikes Saddle, on the road between Braidwood and Cooma. We climbed Dampier Trig, Tabletop, The Scout Hat, and Big Badja Hill, and also visited Jilliga Creek and Woila Creek en route.

The party of 7 was Kendy Burke, Jo Boyd, Jacqui Knox, Tom Murtagh, Kris Plain, Lluisa Murray and myself, Ashley Burke.
